The route of “La Font del Poble” consists of 10 kilometres and allows you to discover the Font de Poble (Font Vella) and a part of the paths and scenery surrounding Fulleda. This route also visits the cistern in the Fondo de Matallongues.

The 10-kilometer route has an initial urban section inside the picturesque village of Fulleda, passing by Plaça de Ramon Santamaria to the right going up Carrer de la Costa, Plaça Vella and crossing the LV-2014 road. We ask for caution when crossing this road. We continue towards Font del Poble following a path that is initially paved and then becomes a dirt road with some difficulty of progression, especially if you go with carts for city children, due to outlying stones. When we arrive at Font del Poble (also called Font Vella) we can see the following inscription in Latin on one of the stones:

“Sub umbra alarum tuarum protege me domine et omnes ex me bibent 1770” “Under the shadow of your wings, protect me lord and all who drink from me 1770”

We continue along the Fondo de les Auberedes, passing by Pou del Ferreret towards Fondo de Matallongues. We will continue along this section until we reach a cistern which is in one of the last farms of this kind. The cistern was used to feed the farm animals on the different farms in the area. Once past the cistern, we will start the return to Fulleda passing by Costa de Fontanals, where we will go down towards La Partidade l’Amenós at Costa de la Cirera and we will continue along the side of Font d’en Jover to reach Comellars d’en Giner. Before entering the village of Fulleda, we will find the LV-2014 road, we ask for caution when crossing it. We will pass by the statue of Augustian of Aragon and enter Avinguda de Zaragoza until we find the starting point. A perfect route for those looking to spend a pleasant time discovering the peculiarities of the municipality of Fulleda and Les Garrigues.

This route is suitable for families, but there are some sections that are difficult to progress, especially if you are carrying city or narrow-wheeled carts, as it runs on sections in trail format.
