Fulleda Turisme Actiu offers you this route in “BTT” mode: “La pedra calcaría” a moderate 66 km route with 1500m of accumulated positive gradient. A circular route which starts and ends in Fulleda and is designed to follow counter-clockwise.
This route that is part of the series of routes named “La pedra calcària” and consists of 66 kilometres, allowing you to discover the surrounding area of Fulleda. This route also visits the municipality of Tarrés and Espluga Calba, found along the way at kilometre 20 and 53 respectively. The first 30 kilometres are done on trails and the next 30 kilometres on track. This track is a fusion of the 34 and 36 km routes of this same series. An ideal route to do with a BTT bike or gravel bike.
The 66 km route starts from Avenida de Agustina Zaragoza near the square where the statue of Agustina de Aragón is located. From here we take the road towards Tarrés, we ask for caution at this point. Follow the road for about 100 meters and turn right past the Racó del Bolet. Here a monument is found commemorating the events of a fateful February 12, 1939, when five children between the ages of 12 and 16 died due to the explosion of an abandoned bomb box during the Civil War. We continue towards Camí de Montblanc, along Plans de l’Arborç, and take a right along Serra del Penjat, passing by the Pedrera del Palau. We continue straight on following the oil pipeline and turn right onto a path that will take us to the beginning of the route at the Tarrés lime kilns. We will go down a path where we find a small pine forest, holm oaks as well as lime kilns and a shelter. We will follow the route passing by Comes de Montgratand until we reach the path leading towards Fondo dels Masos. This trail is a bit tricky at first, so be careful. We cross Camí dels Masos and follow Mas de Martí along an abandoned path leading back towards Reboll de l’Engràcia. Here we can find stone table next to a majestic tree. We will then head downwards to Fondo dels Masos and go up along a path leading towards Cisterna de la Ginera del Xifrenet, passing by the side of the Corregó, Bassa dels Set Noguers, passing by the side of Era. Then we will take a path that will take us to La Fontfreda, a fantastic natural spring.
We will follow the path at Masos, passing Fondo de les Comardivines, along the path to towards Cirerets and along by the side of the ridge before entering the path at Vinaixa, leading uis to the outskirts of Tarrés. We pass through the interior of the village and exit towards Fulleda, turning left and taking the path that will lead towards Solà del Coix. Arriving at Solà del Coix, we will take another path that will lead to the Twin Ovens of Pla del Xato, two lime kilns set side-by-side. We will continue along Plans de Tarrés and go down the entirety of the Vilobí mountain range along a fantastic and fun path. After regrouping, we start the ascent of the Sierra again, alongside the windmills. We turn left at Racó del Paulet along a path that will take us next to the Margendom hut at Racó de les Argelagues Marines. We will then continue along Camí de les Granades until reaching Costa de la Cirera.
Once we reach the top of the ridge, we turn left and pass Costa de la Cirera, this path is an old section that was recently restored by Fulleda Turisme Actiu during the spring and summer of 2020. We continue straight on and turn right to go down the Obac de Matallonga path until reaching Fondo de Matallonga. We cross the Fondo and continue up towards Pla de la Bassa, following the same path until reaching Pla de Fulleda where we turn right to take the path that will take us towards Corral del Queralt, where we go down towards Fondo de Matallonga. We then start the ascent along Fondo de Rocabisbal, following the Racó del Magí towards Camí de Tarrés in Senan. Following the ridge towards Camí dels Plans and Camí de les Catalanes, we will take a path that leads us downwards to Fondo dels Pouets, where we exit at Les Tortes and enter Espluga Calba. Leaving Espluga we will cross the road that goes from Fulleda to Les Borges Blanques, we ask for caution at this point. We will continue straight on along the Vinaixa track to l’Espluga Calba, where we will turn right onto Camí de les Portelles de Dalt. Here we will pass by an impressive shelter and continue towards Mas Blanc. We then cross Portella del Dalmau, the Portella del Rei, and continue towards Mas Blanc along Camí de les Carreteres. We will go up towards Mirador de les Garrigues, a great viewpoint, and pass Punta del Dugo. Here begins the descent towards Vall dels Cortals where we will cross the valley head towards Fondo del Planota, passing by a vaulted hut built of dry stone. We will then go up towards Plans de l’Arboç, and down again towards Fondo dels Pous in the direction of Fulleda for the last climb of the route. We will pass by Carrer de la Bassa, Plaça de Ramon Santamaria and end at Av. by Agustina Zaragoza at the starting point.
This route is perfect for demanding people looking for a route that runs in equal parts over wide tracks as well as paths and narrow paths with difficulty. In general, apart from some difficult trails, it is an easy terrain, perfect for a getaway with either your mountain bike or your Gravel bike, perfect for discovering what Fulleda and its surroundings have to offer. A perfect opportunity to discover the paths and valleys that form the municipality of Fulleda.
